Notebook Tee DIY

For our first DIY craft project, we're going to make this adorable notebook tee. It's really, really simple and only takes 4 steps! It would be a great project to do with an older kid, or you could even do it on a onesie for a little one. Anyways, here we go:

You will need:
  • a white t-shirt (or a onesie or tank top or whatever)
  • blue, red, and black (not pictured, optional) puffy paint
  • tape (I used painters tape because its thick and not too sticky)
  • a paintbrush or sponge
  • a ruler
Step 1:

Lay your tee flat on a hard surface (not on a rug like I did :P ). Put a line of tape directly under the sleeves, then put another tape line a small distance under the first one. I don't have any exact measurements for the skinniest lines because I usually just guestimate how thick I want my blue paper lines to be. Just use your best judgement. Then, using your ruler, measure 1/2 inch from the bottom of the second tape line and put the top edge of a third line of tape there. Continue all the way down the shirt, like in the above picture.

Step 2:

Put some blue puffy paint on the tip of your paintbrush and dab up and down along the skinniest lines. You can also just paint normally instead of dab with the brush, but I like the look of the lines being not completely filled in by the blue. Repeat this for every skinny stripe, but NOT the big ones in between.

Step 3:

( At this point, your tee will only have the blue lines on it, with no words. I used a notebook tee I had already created due to a time crunch) Once the blue paint is completely dry, rip up all the tape. Then, starting just beside the collar of the shirt, put one long tape line down. Put a second one next to it that is the same width as the blue stripes. Dab the red puffy paint down that line.

Step 4:

Now you have an adorable notebook tee! You can call it quits here, or you can use black puffy paint to write names, your favorite Bible verse, song lyrics, or whatever you'd like on it. I put the name of one of my favorite church hymns about standing up for God even when it's hard or you stand alone.

'Dare to be a Daniel, dare to stand alone! Dare to have a purpose firm, dare to make it known...'
~Dare to be a Daniel

Good luck and happy crafting! :)
